How to request a hold
- Patron can place holds on materials through the catalog through our Paging & Pickup service. See the following pages for more information about how this works.
How to process an incoming hold
- While checking in items you may receive a message stating “Put on hold shelf at Library Services Desk for [patrons name] Pickup notice will be printed. Print slip to place in book”
- This means a hold has been placed on this book and it now needs to be placed on the hold shelf for the patron to pick up
- Click “yes” to print hold receipt
- On the receipt, write a week from today’s date
- This is so we know how long to keep this item on the hold shelf before removing it
- Wrap the receipt around the spine of the book with the patron's name visible and secure with a rubber band
- File this item on the hold shelf by patron’s last name
Checking the status of a hold
- You can check the status of a hold from either the patron record or the item record
- The patron record is the easiest
- From the patron's record, click on the holds tab
- The patron's current holds will be displayed
- See the status box to determine the status of the hold
- When a patron's hold has arrived, a message will pop up when you initially bring up their account stating "# held item(s) ready for pickup"
- This means the hold has been fulfilled and the item should be on the hold shelf for the patron
- Retrieve item and check out to patron
