Mark Povinelli : Post Cambrian Explosion
Mark Povinelli : Post Cambrian Explosion
November 16 - December 14, 2012
Le Moyne College will host an exhibit of the work of Mark Povinelli in the Wilson Art Gallery, located in the Noreen Reale Falcone Library. The exhibit opens on Friday, November 16, and will run through Friday, December 14, and can be seen during regular library hours.
Titled “Post Cambrian Explosion,” the exhibit explores the artist’s interest in mathematics, written language, and the diversity of forms in nature. This installation uses sycamore, hemlock, paper and copper to create a space that is transformative. It weaves elements of animal synchronicity and swarming with the deconstruction of the artist’s poetry books.
The artist will talk about his work at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 16, in the Bernat Special Events Room, located in the library. Following his talk, an opening reception will take place in the Wilson Art Gallery until 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (315) 445-4153.
