Tips for Finding Primary Sources in Library Catalog
1) USE SUBJECT HEADINGS
Look for subject headings that say:
- "sources"
- "correspondence"
- "personal narratives"
- For example: See United States History 1849-1877 Sources or Lincoln, Abraham - correspondence
2) USE AUTHOR SEARCH
- You can also try searching for your subject as an Author (eg. Stalin, Joseph) to find all material that they may have written. That's a primary source also!
3) ARTISTS or LAWS
- Do you know any artists, or authors from your time period? Are there any laws or government documents from your time period that would be relevant?
