Recommended Databases for Finding Book Reviews
Several databases can be useful when searching for book reviews. Below is a list of recommended databases, and tricks to use in those databases to limit your search to book reviews only.
JSTOR: In the advanced search mode, you can narrow your search by clicking on the box to limit by reviews only.
Academic Search Elite: Type the title of the book in the first field, and then scroll down to find the box for "document type" (middle left of the page), and select "book review"
America: History & Life: Type the title of the book in the first field, and find the box for "document type" (middle left of the page), and select "book review"
Historical Abstracts: Type the title of the book in the first field, and find the box for "document type" (middle left of the page), and select "book review"
ProQuest Research Library - Humanities Module: Enter the title in the search box, then hit the "more search options" tab at the bottom. Find the dropdown box for "document type" and select Review.
