About the Artist:
Marc Safran, a Brooklyn, NY native, is a self-taught photographer who creates dramatic and
editorialized portraiture and people photography at his studio at the Delavan Building in downtown
Syracuse. Collaborating with local and visiting subjects in the theater, dance, music, fashion and
performance, Safran works to engage his subjects to create dynamic images that utilize careful lighting
and processing. His work has involved members of numerous dance companies and stage productions
including visiting groups like Cirque du Soleil. He has exhibited his photographs here in Syracuse and
galleries in the Finger Lakes area. This upcoming exhibition at Le Moyne is “Bravo/Brava: Performers
Offstage and In Studio” showcases many of the more interesting and compelling subjects he has
photographed over the past decade. His work can be seen online at www.marcsafran.com as well as on

Liverpool, NY.
