SIFT Method for Evaluating Health Sources
The SIFT method is an evaluation strategy developed by digital literacy expert, Mike Caulfield, to help determine whether online content can be trusted for credible or reliable sources of information. Here's how it works:
- Stop to think - don't just accept the source at face value!
- Investigate the source (Who is the publisher? Who is the author? When was it written?)
- Find other, trusted, sources on the same topic
- Trace back to the original report or research study
