Overview of Falcone Library Renovation Plan

In the Spring of 2016 the Provost gathered a task force of stakeholders to consider renovation of the Noreen Reale Falcone Library. Their task was to make recommendations about the scale and scope of a library renovation and to prioritize recommended functions for the renovated space. Since the Library had seen some shifting in its allocation of space functions and had never undergone a thorough renovation since its construction, there was general agreement that renovation of the Falcone Library should be among the College's facilities priorities. Also, that conversion of at least part of the library to a "learning commons" model offered real opportunities for Le Moyne to benefit both academic and student life and also serve to facilitate the College's new strategic plan Sempre Avanti.

In September 2016 the College solicited and received proposals from qualified design firms to provide design services including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction documents, estimating, phasing plans, interior design, and construction administration for the renovation of the Noreen Reale Falcone Library.

QPK Design was chosen to provide planning and design services. The firm's approach will be for the entire building through the schematic design process, demonstrating the fit of Phase 1 (first floor design & construction in 2017) with Phase 2 renovation of the remainder of the Library proposed for a subsequent time.
