RefWorks Help

Please contact Tom Keays at keaysht@lemoyne.edu or 445-4322 if you are interested in an instruction session for your class or seminar. Tom is also available by apporintment for individual consultation.

Citation Styles

RefWorks and Write-N-Cite support a large number of citation styles beyond APA, Chicago, MLA, and CSE, including styles specific to a variety of journals and organizations.

For more information about using citation styles correctly, check out the style guides available online and in print from from the Library.

RefWorks Classic

Although the older RefWorks Classic version of the database still exists, you should make the switch to RefWorks 2.0 now.

You can switch between the versions by following links in upper right of RefWorks, when you are logged in. RefWorks sets a cookie to remember the version you last logged in with, but otherwise defaults to RefWorks 2.0.

What is RefWorks?

RefWorks is a citation management system that allows you to save, store, and manage bibliographic citations, and also to generate bibliographies in over 300 different citation styles. RefWorks is available free to Le Moyne students and faculty through the Library subscription.

Most of our literature databases allow direct export of records into RefWorks, and because it is a web-based system, it is possible to link directly to the full text of any articles in your own RefWorks account if they are available online through the Library.

  • Online RefWorks Help
RefWork's Online Help system has a wealth of information that you can search or navigate through from the table of contents.
  • RefWorks LibGuide

Video Tutorials and Webinars

Beyond the Library's locally produced video tutorials on RefWorks and Write-N-Cite, RefWorks itself has developed an extensive suite of training materials and webinars.

RefWorks Group Code

You should not need the LeMoyne group code if you log in using the proxy server -- i.e., by following a link that looks like this:

http://0-www.refworks.com.library.lemoyne.edu/refworks

The proxy replaces the group code as the means that RefWorks knows that you are an authorized Le Moyne College user.

If you can't remember the group code while off-campus, it is included in the email you receive when you request a password reminder.

Extending RefWorks

RefWorks has helper tools for using citations in papers, citing web pages, and sharing your citation lists.

  • Download Write-N-Cite

Write-N-Cite is a utility that allows users to add and properly format references from your RefWorks database into your Word document while you write. There are versions of Write-N-Cite available for both Windows and Macintosh.
  • Share Your Citations With RefShare
RefShare allows you to share a read-only copy of your entire RefWorks database or specific folders with other researchers, on- or off-campus.
  • RefGrab-It

RefGrab-It is an optional feature for capturing bibliographic information from web pages. Download as a browser bookmarklet or as a plug-ins for Internet Explorer and Firefox.
  • RefMobile

Review references stored in your RefWorks database in a mobile phone version of the website.
