Physical Properties and Data (Physics)

General Scientific Data Sources

find data, tools, and resources to conduct research, develop web and mobile applications, and design data visualizations.
  • Dryad
An open curated repository that makes data underlying scientific publications searchable, accessible, and citable
  • Energy Information Administration
Data about petroleum, natural gas, electricity, nuclear reactors and uranium, coal, and renewable fuels.
  • EPA's Environmental Dataset Gateway
Gateway to geospatial and non-geospatial environmental data resources.
  • FedStats
Search other federal agencies to find science related statistics and data.
  • National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics
Offers data on research and development, the science and engineering workforce, the condition and progress of STEM education, and U.S. competitiveness in STEM fields.
  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Data about weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and related fields.
  • Pew Research Center: Science
For data on public opinions and public awareness about scientific topics.
Searches databases and federal agencies, to find authoritative U.S. government science information including research and development results.

Biology Related Data

  • GenBank
    The NIH's genetic sequence database.
  • Global Biodiversity Information Facility
Free and open access to biodiversity data.
  • OneMercury
DataOne's search tool for scientific data. DataOne is funded by NSF as a repository for environmental data, as well as data related to ecology, oceanography, meteorology, etc.
  • TreeBASE
Repository of phylogenetic information, specifically user-submitted phylogenetic trees and the data used to generate them
