Gifts & Donations

PROCEDURES

Thank you for thinking of the Falcone Library of Le Moyne College. We value and rely on a carefully selected print book collection. However, our library is not accepting gifts of books or journals. The exception is for Le Moyne College employees who have books in their campus offices.

Employees may contact Rob Cook:  Assistant to the Director of the Library, via email or telephone 315-445-4320.

Donated items will either be added to the Library collection or discharged to a third party vendor that will send to the Library a percentage of the net sales.

Delivery:  Depending on the amount of items, we may advise that the boxes go first to the Physical Plant building, rather than to Rob Cook in the Library. Donors are to arrange for pickup and delivery by contacting the Physical Plant and Rob Cook to arrange a date and time and delivery location.

Appraisals:  Not provided.  If an appraisal is desired, the donor must seek the services of a professional appraiser before contacting the Library.  A copy of the professional appraisal must accompany the donation if the donor wants to be formally recognized for the donation.

Better World Books

Please visit the Better World Books website by clicking on their logo below to browse for used books available for purchase.  The Le Moyne College Noreen Reale Falcone Library sends free-of-charge to Better World Books any books donated to our Library that are not added to our Library collection.  Better World Books in turn lists for sale on its website those and other items donated by other libraries and organizations.  Our Library receives a 15% sales commission from the sale of any of the items donated by our Library.  The sales commissions are then used to purchase other materials to be added to our Library collection.  In addition, Better World Books donates 5% of the sales commission to the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL).  NCFL's mission is "to create a literate nation by leveraging the power of the family".  It has been stated that "NCFL fuels life improvement for the nation's most disadvantaged children and parents".
